1. Ebru (marbling) Art Workshop at the Cherry Hill Public Library

We had a wonderful time at the Ebru (Turkish marbling) workshop hosted at the Cherry Hill Public Library. Experienced Ebru artist Yasemin Ozer introduced the rich history and cultural significance of this traditional art form, then guided participants through a hands-on marbling session. Everyone enjoyed exploring the beauty of colors floating on water and creating their own unique Ebru designs.

What is Ebru Art:

Ebru is a traditional Islamic art form that creates intricate, flowing patterns on water using natural pigments and brushes made from horsehair and rose stems. Each design is carefully transferred onto paper, making every piece one of a kind. Rooted in centuries of Ottoman culture, Ebru represents patience, balance, and harmony between movement and stillness. Today, it continues to inspire artists around the world as both a meditative practice and a bridge between nature, art, and spirit.

2.  Youth Social Gatherings

The social gatherings of our high school youth foster connection, strengthen identity, and nurture leadership. These regular meet-ups offer a safe and engaging space for students to share experiences, discuss meaningful topics, and build lasting friendships rooted in faith and community. Through open dialogue, mentorship, and collaboration, our youth are developing the confidence and sense of purpose they need to become the leaders of tomorrow.

3. Fundraiser for Homeless with IHOC

We collaborated with the Interfaith Homeless Coalition to offer meaningful assistance to vulnerable new residents settling in the township. Our volunteers helped coordinate essential supplies, connect families with local resources as they transitioned into their new environment.

4. Back-to-School Book Bag & Donation Drive

We organized a community-wide drive to provide school supplies for underserved children in our district’s elementary schools. With the help of our dedicated high school and middle school students, volunteers packed and delivered backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils, and other classroom essentials to each school. Thanks to the generous donations from our community members, we were able to support dozens of young learners as they began the new school year—turning this project into a meaningful act of service and collaboration across generations.

5. Eid al-Adha Fun for Kids

During the Eid al-Adha Festival organized by South Jersey Muslims, our team hosted a fun children’s trivia activity and distributed free toys and gifts to make the celebration even more joyful. The event brought families together in a warm and festive atmosphere, creating smiles and lasting memories for our community’s youngest members.

6. Fast-A-Thon Interfaith Collaboration

SALAM – SHALOM – PEACE

During Ramadan 2025, we organized an Interfaith Fast-a-thon, bringing together members of the Muslim, Christian, and Jewish communities to share in the experience of fasting and breaking bread together. Religious leaders spoke about the significance of fasting in their respective faiths—Ramadan in Islam, Lent in Christianity, and in Judaism—highlighting our shared values of reflection, gratitude, and compassion. The evening concluded with a warm community ifthar (breaking fast), where participants from all backgrounds enjoyed a meal side by side, celebrating unity through faith and understanding.

7. Muslim Heritage Month Initiatives

We supported the development of programs and displays at local schools and libraries to promote cultural awareness and address Islamophobia through education. As part of Muslim Heritage Month, a documentary screening for adults and a craft activity for children were organized at the Cherry Hill Public Library, offering opportunities for learning and engagement across age groups. 

The Cherry Hill Muslims Organization aims to create a strong sense of community among Muslim families while fostering relationships with the broader Cherry Hill community. Through interfaith dialogue, educational programs, service projects, and outreach initiatives, it seeks to promote understanding, respect, and collaboration among people of diverse backgrounds.  

Purpose

Cherry Hill Muslims Organization is a nonprofit and educational organization established under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Its purpose is to share the values of Islam through education, outreach, interfaith engagement and community service.

Mission

The mission of CHMO is to foster equity, harmony, and understanding through:

1. Sharing Islamic values through education and outreach
2. Establishing relationships with local government officials and other community groups to provide education about Islam;
3. Supporting the identity and welfare of Cherry Hill Muslims;
4. Building relationships with civic, community, and charitable organizations to foster integration and collaboration.

CHMO will collaborate with all organizations regardless of religious, racial, or ethnic affiliation.
